GOV UGWUANYI LEADS PDP CAMPAIGN FOR FEB 23 ENUGU STATE LG ELECTION

Enugu State Governor, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has directed that henceforth, all the elected Local Government Chairmen and Councillors in the state must reside in their electoral constituencies to further secure the areas and activate the local economies.

He gave the directive at Ikem, the Isi-Uzo Local Government Headquarters, during the commencement of local government campaigns of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the February 23 Council and Ward Elections in the State.

The event, which witnessed a mass turn out of enthusiastic party members and teeming supporters, saw Governor Ugwuanyi appealling to them to eschew any form of bickering and divisive rhetoric during campaigns and elections for the party to enjoy a landslide victory.

While presenting flags to the party’s Chairmanship Candidates and their Deputies, Governor Ugwuanyi assured the people of Enugu State that the candidates if elected, would serve them with the fear of God and in their best interest.

He urged the people to come out en masse to vote for PDP candidates in all the seventeen local government areas and two hundred hundred and sixty electoral wards of the state during the poll.

He preached peace, harmony and a united Enugu State, stressing that the state is essentially one family admired for it’s inclusive style of leadership.

“Ndi Enugu, as I flag off the 2022 local government elections campaign of the PDP in Enugu State, I present to you the party flag bearers for the council Chairmanship election in the seventeen local government areas of the state, persons who have been found worthy and capable of superintending the affairs of the local government council by the party in their respective local government areas.

“I passionately plead with you to massively support these candidates. I assure you that these candidates if elected, shall serve you with the fear of God and in your best interest consistent with the PDP tradition,” he pleaded.

Also, the state Chairman of the PDP, Chief Augustine Nnamani, thanked party leaders and supporters for comming out in large numbers to grace the campaign.

The state party Chairman also applauded Governor Ugwuanyi for entrenching peace and good governance in the state.

He further appealed to the people of the state to vote for the candidates of the PDP for the party to continue to deliver dividends of democracy for the good of all.

Some stakeholders and chieftains of the party such as a former governor of the state, Senator Chimaroke Nnamani commended Governor Ugwuanyi for his consistency in conducting local government elections since the inception of his administration.

The senator reaffirmed his support and loyalty to the Governor’s decisions with respect 2023 general election.

There were remarks and goodwill messages from the Speaker of Enugu State House of Assembly, Mr. Edward Ubosi, the state Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Mr. Solomon Onah and the state Executive Council Members represented by the Commissioner for Environment Mr. Chijioke Edeoga.
