FED LAWMAKER TRAINS ANAMBRA YOUTHS ON RENEWABLE ENERGY

One hundred youths in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State have been trained on the economic benefits of renewable energy.
The youth from 16 wards in the area converged on Ogbaru Community to get trained in renewable energy business.
Addressing the youth, the member representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency, Mr. Victor Ogene, said the aim was to discourage them from all forms restiveness and armed robbery.
According to Mr. Ogene, the level of unemployment and economic depression among the youth in the country is worrisome, hence the need to engage them meaningfully to earn a living.
Mr. Ogene, who is the House Committee Chairman on Renewable Energy, noted that he made quality contacts (both local and international bodies) who were ready to help in offering skill acquisition and renewable energy service to young people in the area.
The federal lawmaker said the training would help them train others, pointing out that it was a pre-lude to the various empowerment initiatives coming up next year in the area.
He stated that essentially, the training would boost the youth with the basics in renewable energy service and prepare them to rely on their own as tools would be provided them with a mechanism put in place to monitor their progress.
A Resource person, Mr. Suraj Shittu, expressed satisfaction with the level of enthusiasm demonstrated by the youth to get the opportunity inherent in renewable energy business.
Mr. Shittu noted that the youth were introduced to the advantages of solar energy technology and how they could tap into it to become self reliant.
The youth, including Nnamdi Obiekie, James Adione and Miss Fate John, said they were happy to be given the opportunity to learn about renewable energy initiative, adding that they learnt installation and maintenance of solar system as well as its economic advantage.
Some of the stakeholders in the area commended the benefactor for attracting such a meaningful opportunity to the people of the area.
