Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has expressed commitment to a non-discriminatory government by his administration.
Governor Otti, who gave the assurance at the Banquet Hall, Government House Umuahia, during the Monthly Media Parley with Journalists tagged “Governor Otti Speaks,” explained that “everyone who contributes to the state regardless of their place of origin should be treated equally.”
According to the Governor, some disengaged civil servants in the state due to non-indigeneship during the administration of former Governor Theodore Orji, are now re-engaged and maintained that his administration is currently reviewing the cases of the remaining few disengaged workers, with the aim of reintegrating them into the state workforce.
Governor Otti said there was no plan on mass retrenchment as being peddled in some quarters and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing the State Civil Service for efficiency through prompt payment of salaries and other packages.
He warned that absenteeism and truancy would no longer be tolerated in his administration and encouraged the civil servants to put in their best for optimal service delivery.
The governor further announced that Amachara General Hospital received a boost in health care delivery with the opening of an eye clinic where 600 patients were attended to on the official opening day.
He also announced that government had started the phase 2 upgrading of the Abia State University Teaching Hospital, ABSUTH, Aba, for optimal service delivery while 200 primary healthcare centres in the state had been earmarked for retrofitting, a project within 100 days.
While reacting to question on recent NCW/Extended meeting of Labour Party held in Umuahia, Governor Otti explained that the stakeholders’ meeting was in a bid to restore peace in the party.
