GOV UGWUANYI INAUGURATES LAST BUS STOP NKWO NIKE JUNCTION ROAD

Enugu State Governor, Mr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has said that his administration will continue to prioritize infrastructural projects to ameliorate the sufferings of the people and stimulate economic growth.

He stated this during the inauguration of over 2.8km Abakpa Nike Last Bus Stop-Nkwo Nike Junction Road, and inspection tour of T-junction/Nike Lake Resort Flyover project site, in Enugu East Local Government Area.

Inaugurating the road amid jubilation by residents and road users, Governor Ugwuanyi announced that the road infrastructure was conceived and executed to divert and ease traffic occasioned by by the ongoing Flyover project in the area.

He maintained that the project was in keeping with the state government’s efforts to revitalise parts of Enugu metropolis, facilitate investments, inspire private investments, stimulate economic growth and reinvigorate the urban renewal initiative.

“We also reconstructed and rehabilitated about 66km of roads in the local government area including Penocks, Abakpa Nike Ogwuagor internal roads to ease movement of people and materials.

“I urge all users of this new road to own and protect this key infrastructural asset while observing road traffic safety protocol,” the Governor said.

In a remark, the state Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Greg Nnaji, explained that the over 2.8km single carriage way, which cut across eight communities had concrete-lined drains with five culverts, and was delivered on a target six months competition period.

“One of the roads that will serve as a diversion for the Flyover project is this particular last bus stop Nkwo Nike road,” the Commissioner remarked.

Earlier on arrival, Governor Ugwuanyi accompanied by top government functionaries inspected the ongoing construction works at the T- Junction Flyover Bridge where the Construction Manager, Mr. Youssef Zghaib gave an assurance that the project started seven months ago, and executed in strict compliance with the design and specifications, would be delivered as scheduled.

“Lately the challenge we have was sit at home on Mondays. If you lose one day the week you’ve lost fifteen percent of the time. If not for the timely payment by the government, we wouldn’t be at this stage,” the Construction Manager explained.

Some indigenes of the area, including the Speaker of the State Houses of Assembly, Mr. Edward Ubosi; the Chairman of Enugu East Council Area, Mr. Alex Ugwu; and an artisan, Mr. Charles Ebe, applauded the Governor for his special interventions and other projects executed in the area.

They said that the road project was a dream come true and thanked the Governor for making it a reality.
