REPORTER: BEN ILECHUKWU

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo says his administration is committed towards curbing incessant traffic gridlock witnessed at various gateways to the state.

Governor Soludo made this known while launching the rehabilitation of failed portion of the Enugu-Onitsha Old Road at the Amansea- Ugwuoba axis.

Amansea is Anambra State border community with Enugu State.

Governor Soludo noted that rehabilitating the road would enable commuters and travellers to ply the road with pleasure.

He observed that the road is important due to its strategic location as one of the major gateways into Anambra State.

Governor Soludo further explained that shanties along the Amansea- road would also be pulled down to give it a face-lift, adding that the road linking Awba-ofemili to Ebenebe would soon be constructed.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Works, Mr. Ifeanyi Okoma,
said that the ministry would ensure that all roads in the state were motorable as part of measures to make the state a liveable and prosperous homeland.

The President General of Amansea Community, Mr. Christian Uhandu, thanked the governor for coming to the aid of the people of the area as well as travellers, who he noted had had hellish experiences on that portion of Enugu-onitsha road.
