FIRE CONSUMES INEC OFFICE IN AWGU LGA

The Enugu State Fire Service has confirmed the fire outbreak at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu.

According to the Chief Fire Officer, Mr. Okwudili Ohaa, he received a distress call from the Chairman of the Council and quickly mobilized his personnel to the area, who attended the fire and stopped it from spreading to other parts of the building.

Mr. Ohaa maintained that only one room and the roof were badly affected by the fire.

The fire, which started in the early hours of yesterday, did cause substantial damage to the INEC office before the quick response of the Fire Service helped to save the situation.

The Chief Fire Officer, Mr. Ohaa told Radio Nigeria that investigation had since commenced to ascertain the actual cause of the inferno.

This brings to three offices of the Commission set on fire in Enugu State in the past four months.
