FHA PROPOSES AFFORDABLE HOUSING SCHEME IN ABIA

The Managing Director, Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Mr. Oyetunde Ojo, says Federal Government is keen about the shelter needs of Nigerians irrespective of political affiliations.

Mr. Ojo stated this when he led a delegation of the Federal Housing Authority to Governor Alex Otti to tender a proposal of the Federal Government to acquire land and build affordable houses for Abia State residents.

He explained that President Bola Tnubu identified shortage of shelter in the country and expressed his willingness to provide affordable housing for the citizens.

According to the Federal Housing Authority boss, the plan is to meet with state Governors and redesign together, the kind of housing to be built in each state, noting that the inputs of the Governors is important to the project.

Responding, Governor Otti said the state would show sufficient interest in the proposed federal housing project.

He announced the government had identified a location for the proposed diaspora village to be built by his government.

Governor Otti thanked President Tinubu for the decision to ensure that Nigerians have shelters and with the assurance that contractors for the building of the federal housing project would be locally sourced.
