ENUGU STATE ASSURES YOUTH CORPS MEMBERS OF SECURITY

The Enugu State Government has assured corps members serving in the state of adequate security to ensure they optimally discharge their duties.

The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Simon Ortuanya, gave the assurance during the closing ceremony of the 2019, Batch B, Stream II NYSC orientation course at the permanent orientation camp Awgu.

Professor Ortuanya noted that various security initiatives had been put in place to secure the lives and property of residents of the state.

He mentioned that corps members would be given opportunities to be part of the security network in community policing strategy.

Earlier, the the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Stephen Dewan, appealed to the state government for the proper upgrade of the orientation camp.

“Some peculiar challenges of the orientation camp are becoming formidable to manage,  particularly the lack of access road to the camp, lack of internal road network within the camp and lack of adequate (sic) accommodation for corps members and camp officials,” he said.

He urged the corps members to exhibit exemplary conduct at the places of primary assignment.

Some of the corps members interviewed expressed delight with the organisation of the exercise and pledged to promote national Integration, which was the foundation for the creation of the NYSC scheme.
