EID KABIR: GOC ASSURES ADEQUATE SECURITY IN SOUTH EAST, INSISTS ON FREE MOVEMENT ON MONDAYS

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division, Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Aminu Chinade, has reiterated the commitment of the Army to the security of lives and property of citizens of South-East, and Enugu in particular.

Maj. Gen. Chinade gave the assurance in Enugu after observing the Eid prayer to celebrate Eid al-Adha at the 82 Division Eid ground, Enugu.

The GOC assured that the Armed Forces, especially the Nigerian Army, would continue to provide robust and adequate security to ensure a peaceful environment.

He pointed out that the Army had deployed resources to deal with any negative situation.

While congratulating the muslim ummah on this year’s salhah, the GOC urged the people to continue to remain peaceful, and work closely with the security agencies for peace in the entire southeast region.

“They should be assured that the armed forces and in particular the Nigerian Army and other security agencies have deployed all the necessary resources to protect them, particularly any attempt to restrict movement will be resisted.

“So people should not entertain any fear, they should come out on all days, including Mondays to transact their normal businesses,” he said.

Earlier in a sermon, the Chief Imam of 82 Division of Nigerian Army, Lt.-Col. Husein Eleje, urged Nigerians to imbibe love as a prerequisite for all genuine sacrifice.

He said that there was the need for love and genuine sacrifice for peace and progress to reign in the country.

According to the Chief Imam, every one should show love to neighbours, people around in the community, and even to animals within their vicinity.

“The love, which brings accommodation and tolerance, must be extended to everything Almighty Allah has created,” he admonished.

Lt. Col. Eleje, who is the Director of Islamic Affairs in the Division, noted that “love is a very strong instrument to unite all humans especially Nigerians as a nation.”

He said: “When love exists, there will not be quarrelling, fighting, hatred, and opposition between people or groups.

“Love remains a strong instrument to make any one to forget his or her difference with another.

“If we imbibe and live in love and understanding, Nigerians will not remember race, nation and tribe; we have the spirit to do things in common.”

The Chief Imam also said that genuine love leads to genuine sacrifice, where people prefer to see to the good and wellbeing of others before attending to their own needs or desires.
