REPORTER: AMECHI ODO

Ebonyi State Government has sacked all management staff of the State College of Education Ikwo for alleged illegal employment conducted in the school.

A statement by the state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Uchenna Orji, explained that the State government arrived at the decision to sack the management staff after receiving a report on the illegal recruitment at the state Executive Council meeting at Government House Abakaliki.

He further stated that the state government had laid off all casual workers in the tertiary institution while all employment from 2019 to date had been cancelled.

Mr. Orji said an Executive Committee led by the state Deputy Governor, Dr. Kelechi Igwe, had been set up to recommend to the state government those to be appointed to run the school for one month.

He added that the Committee to be appointed to run the school would be saddled with the responsibility to revive the college.
