The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, the Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor has urged the faithful not to see the celebration of Easter as a mere ritual but allow it to have a spiritual impact in their lives.

Bishop Ezeokafor, who gave the charge in an Easter message at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka, described Easter as the greatest Christian celebration as it called for sober reflection and preparation for life after death.

According to the Most Reverend Ezeokafor, Jesus Christ died out of love to redeem mankind.

The Catholic Prelate who stressed the need for people to hearken to the call for COVID-19 Vaccination by the federal government, acknowledged that no vaccine was entirely free from side effects.

He explained that the vaccine would help in no small measures in checkmating the spread of the virus.

On security challenges in Anambra State and the nation, the Catholic Bishop of Awka condemned in totality the killings of security men and stressed that killing of human beings was a huge crime against God and humanity.

Bishop Ezeokafor advocated synergy among security agencies and the creation of robust local vigilance system to minimize crime in the country.
