DRY SEASON SICKNESS COULD BE DEADLY — DERMATOLOGIST

A Consultant Dermatologist at the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, Dr. Obioma Ekpe, wants people to adopt precautionary measures to check ailments that are common in dry season.

Dr. Ekpe stated this in an interview with Radio Nigeria.

He listed heat rash, sunburn, cough, sore eyes, heat stroke, sneezing, catarrh, sore throat, general nasal tract disorder, and meningitis as some of the common illnesses in the dry season.

The Medical expert noted that complicated ailments like cardiac arrest, nose bleeding, rheumatism and could occur and could pose a problem to those suffering from sickle cell, even resulting in death.

Dr. Ekpe advised people to drink a lot of water to avoid being dehydrated, reduce exposure to sun, engage in physical exercise only in the morning, ensure adequate ventilation in their houses, avoid overcrowding and quickly see a qualified medical doctor in case of an emergency.
