CUSTOMS ZONE C INTERCEPTS CONTRABAND WORTH OVER #99MN

The Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit, Zone ‘C’ Owerri says it has intercepted tramadol and other contraband goods worth over Ninety-Nine Million Naira from April-June 2021.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Zone, Mr. Jerry Attah.

The statement claims that the items confiscated include: four thousand five hundred sachets of 225 milligrams of royal brand of tramadol, two hundred and ten bags of 50 kilograms foreign parboiled rice, eighteen parcels of Indian Hemp, nineteen thousand seven hundred and twenty-five sachets of dizapam tablet among other items.

According to the statement, five suspects were arrested in connection with the seizure, but were released on administrative bail after proper investigations proved they were drivers who knew nothing about the items.

The Comptroller Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit, Zone ‘C’ Owerri, Mr. Yusuf Lawal, while commending the resilience and doggedness of the officers and men that brought about the result, called on Nigerians to put all hands on deck to reduce smuggling to its barest minimum.
