Governor Willie Obiano has called on Christians to let the light of their kindness shine on their neighbours as Christendom celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ.
Governor Obiano made the call in a special Christmas Message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. James Eze.
The Governor observed that mankind had been so heavily traumatized in 2020, but stated that only a genuine act of kindness could heal the deep wounds inflicted on every one by COVID-19 and other afflictions of the year.
According to the Governor’s message, “throughout history, the walls that separate humanity from one another have always fallen down in times of common adversity and grief.”
He noted that “simple acts of kindness do not only heal broken hearts, but also give many people a hope to hold on to.”
Governor Obiano therefore called on the people of the state to intensify their communal efforts against the pandemic during the Yuletide as such efforts had proven to be a master stroke against the scourge.
He pointed out that at the peak of the COVID-19 onslaught earlier in the year, philanthropists and humanists in various communities in the state had risen to push back at the threat.
Chief Obiano, while saying that it is good to celebrate Christmas, urged Nigerians not to throw their lives away in the process, saying that “COVID-19 is still very much around and we must minimize the chances of exposing ourselves to it by celebrating Christmas indoors with our families and loved ones.”
