BISHOP ONAGA CONDEMNS SECTIONALISM AND ETHNICITY IN THE COUNTRY

The Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Reverend Callistus Onaga wants Nigerians to remain focused and united in building a virile nation.

Bishop Onaga gave the advice during the Chrism Mass to mark Maundy Thursday at the Holy Ghost cathedral, Ogui, Enugu.

Commemorating the institution of the Holy Eucharist and their noble vocation, Bishop Onaga advocated prayers for priests to enable them to remain committed to their priestly vow.

He led emphasis on propagation of the gospel, imbibing the culture of love and mercy, and stamping out sectionalism as well as ethnicity which according to him were eating deep into the fabrics of the nation, and which the church shouldn’t tolerate.

Bishop Onaga implored the laity to support the clergy continue to cooperate.

Some of the priests, Father Benjamin Ochiagha and Charles Obodo thanked God for the gift of life to witness this year’s celebration.

The event featured renewal of priestly vow and blessing of the oil of the Chris oil of the sick and that of Catechumen.

There was also presentation of a Canonical document, the decree of introduction of cause for the beatification of late bishop Michael Eneje by the Congregation of the Cause of Saints, Rome and appointment of a committee that will be in-charge of investigation into the life of Bishop Eneje before his canonization.
