AUTO CRASH CLAIMS ONE LIFE IN ANAMBRA

A yet to be identified male adult has died in an accident that occurred on Friday at the Awka section of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway in
Anambra State.
According to report, the incident occured when an unidentified driver of a red/white Toyota Hiace bus with registration number BRA107XA and another unidentified driver of white Mercedes Benz Truck with registration number: NSH394ZF were involved in a road crash just before Ngozika Junction, Awka.
The Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the state, Mrs. Margaret Onabe said the probable cause of the crash was route violation.
She said an eyewitness reported that the truck driver was reversing on the road to face one way and then collided with the bus coming from kwata Junction.
Mrs. Onabe explained that four people were involved in the incident, two male adults and two female adults.
Mrs. Onabe said three people were rescued unhurt, while the FRSC rescue team from RS5.3 took the victim to a hospital where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty and the corpse deposited at the hospital morgue.
Public Education Officer said the Sector Commander, Mr.Adeoye Irelewuyi, sympathized with the family of the victim and warned motorists to desist from reversing on the expressway and violating road safety regulations.
