APC WINS IMO ASSEMBLY BYE-ELECTION

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Blyden Amajirionwu, winner of February 27, 2022 bye-election for Ngor-Okpala Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly.

Declaring the result at a collation centre in Umuneke Ngor, the Returning Officer, Professor Ameh Dennis-Akor, of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike in Ebonyi State, said the APC candidate polled 9,248 votes to defeat other ten candidates who participated in the election.

He said the PDP candidate Mr. Emeka Nwachukwu emerged second with 7,161 votes.

Professor Denis Akor said the constituency had 94, 118 registered voters.

Of the number, 18,083 were accredited but only 17,862 persons eventually cast their votes.

He said a total of 17,280 votes were valid while 582 votes were rejected.  

The Returning Officer said the APC candidate having satisfied the requirement of the law was declared winner and returned elected.
