APC WINS GUBER ELECTION IN EBONYI

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Chief Francis Nwifuru, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner of the Governorship Election in Ebonyi State.

Announcing the result at the State Collation Centre INEC Headquarters Abakaliki, the State Returning Officer, who is also the Vice Chancellor of University of Nigeria Nsukka, Professor Charles Igwe, said Chief Nwifuru, polled 199,131 (One hundred and ninety nine thousand, one hundred and thirty one) votes.

His closest rival, Dr. Ifeanyichukwuma Odii, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored 8,191 (eighty thousand, one hundred and ninety one) votes.

Professor Igwe said 1,597,646 (one million, five hundred and ninety seven thousand, six hundred and forty six) voters were registered for the election while 350,346 (three hundred and fifty thousand, three hundred and forty six) were accredited for the exercise.

13 political parties participated in the election while APM was the only party that fielded a female Governorship Candidate, Mrs. Judith Igwe, who polled 206 (two hundred and six) votes.

However, the State Agent of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Senator Emmanuel Onwe, described the outcome of the election as a sham and refused to sign the result.
