Following the increasing security crisis in Anambra State, traditional rulers, presidents general, religious leaders and other stakeholders have been advised to ensure that youth imbibe the right values and avoid destructive vices, especially violence and drug abuse.

This was contained in a communique presented after a meeting by the Anambra State Elders Council at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.

The Chairman of the Council, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, said that the advice became imperative after an in-depth deliberations on the current security challenges in the area.

The Council, however, explained that they received a brief from the Governor on the projects and activities carried out by his administration, which they said were legacies to the people of the state.

The Elders also commended INEC, law enforcement agencies and all the organizations alongside citizens who combined to ensure that the result of the state Governorship election amply reflected the wish of the people.

The Council warmly congratulated the governor-elect, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, on his outstanding electoral victory.

Reflecting on the March 17 handover, the Council expressed happiness that the state would be passing from an administration that would leave behind an admirable legacy to a new dawn, pregnant with great expectations that the development of the state and welfare of its citizens would be taken to the next level by the incoming administration.

Earlier Governor Willie Obiano, who thanked the Council for the great advice to shepherd the state, expressed joy that his administration had lived up to its vision and mission statement, which had repositioned the state.

Governor Obiano also gave a break of his administration’s achievement in the oil and gas sector, agriculture, health, education, sports among others, expressing confidence that Professor Soludo would do better than him.
