ABSU DVC KIDNAPPED, POLICE SEEK ASSISTANCE

The Police Command in Abia State has confirmed the abduction of the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Abia State University, Professor Godwin Emezue, on Friday January 26, 2024.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the development in a statement.

The statement said hoodlums abducted Professor Emezue, in the company of his wife in their vehicle while purchasing fuel at a petrol station in Umuekwu Amachara, Umuahia South Local Government Area around 7pm.

According to the statement, during the incident, the hoodlums confiscated his wife’s ATM card, dragged the Deputy Vice-Chancellor into a Lexus SUV, and drove away with the victim.

It explained that the Police Command had deployed resources and assets, including intelligence and technical aid towards rescuing the victim, and urged Abia residents to remain calm while being security conscious.

The statement further solicited the cooperation of the public in providing any useful information to track down the abuductors and enhance security in the state.
