62ND INDEPENDENCE: ABIA RESIDENTS DECRY RISING INSECUITY

REPORTER: JOSHUA OBIALO

A cross section of residents of Abia State has decried the increasing rate of insecurity in the country as Nigeria celebrates 62 years of independence.

In an interview with Radio Nigeria in Umuahia, a clergyman, Pastor Sunday Moses said that 62years should have been an age of stability and glamour when every citizen would be sleeping with two eyes closed and travel to any part of the country without fear.

Pastor Moses, however, expressed sadness about the current security situation in the country and urged Nigerians to continue praying for God’s intervention, especially against those frustrating the efforts of security agents.

For her part, a retired school Principal, Mrs. Chinyere Kalu, said security of lives and property was a key responsibility of government at all levels and urged those in power to rise up to the challenge.

Also, a teacher, Mrs. Goodness Aladdin, appealed to Nigerians to vote for capable leaders in the 2023 polls to enable them to effectively combat insurgents and other criminal elements in the country.
