THE WORLD CELEBRATES WORLD SMILE DAY,RADIOLOGY DAY

Today is World Smile Day

World Smile Day is celebrated on November eight annually to encourage people to express acts of kindness to people, spread goodwill and cheer people up.

To celebrate the day,people are expected to complement their fellow human beings, share gifts and surprise people with smiling faces.

World Smile Day is observed to honour a commercial artist named HARVEY BALL who created what is known as the SMILEY face, an image that had instant commercial success and quickly became famous globally in 1963.

Highlighting the relevance of the day a Consultant Radiologist, University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku Ozalla, Dr. Ngozi Njeze explained that smile provides the body with certain health benefits that sustains life.

 An Enugu-based writer and Communicator, Mr. Uche Anioke while describing the values of smile urged Nigerians to always smile despite the economic downturn.

 A cross section of Nigerians believe that a frowning face is a pathway to ill-health.

Also, Nigeria today joins the global community to celebrate World Radiology Day.

World Radiology Day was proclaimed on November 8, 2012 by the European Society of Radiology, ESR, the Radiological Society of North America, RSNA, the American College of Radiology, ACR and International Society of Radiology.

Radiology was founded on November 8 1895, by a German Scientist called Vitim Vionda.

World Radiology Day aims to build greater awareness on the value of Radiology, which contributes to safe patient care and improves understanding of the vital role Radiologists play in the healthcare delivery.
