FG TARGETS 75,000 UNEMPLOYED PERSONS IN THE N-POWER PROGRAMME

The Federal Government has launched the N-POWER BUILD PROGRAMME in Enugu State to train 75,000 young unemployed Nigerians.

The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, who performed the official launch, said the Federal Government was committed to addressing the spate of unemployment in the country.

The N-Power build is a training and certification program targeted at raising a new crop of skilled workforce of technicians, artisans and service professionals.

According to Professor Osinbajo, the programme will have 250 training centres across the country.

The Vice President added that the programme would train 20,000 youths under the 2017 budget, which started in March this year.

Enugu State Governor, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, emphasized that the impact of the programme in the state would go a long way to complement the efforts of the state government to bridge the unemployment gap in the area through skill acquisition programmes.

One of the trainees, Mr. Festus Chukwu, said the social investment program would rekindle the hope and aspirations of some youths in the country.

The training, would be in seven components, comprising automotive; carpentry and joinery; electrical installation; Masonry; painting and decorations; plumbing/pipefitting; wielding and fabrication.

The team, which had the presence of the minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr. Chris Ngige and other stakeholders, inspected the ANAMMCO facilities, venue of the event and training centre for some of the trainees.
