SOLDIER’S MURDER: OTTI CONDOLES NIG ARMY, PLEDGES TO SUPPORT DECEASED FAMILIES

Abia State Government has reiterated its commitment to work with the security agencies in the state to fish out the criminal elements that killed five soldiers at Obikabia in Obingwa Local Government Area last week in Aba.
Speaking at the headquarters of the 144 Infantry Battalion of the Nigeria Army in Asa, Ukwa West Local Government Area of the state, Governor Alex Otti thanked the Nigeria Army high command for reducing the tension that had shrouded the State.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Kazie Uko, explained that the Governor, who was at the headquarters of the 144 Infantry Battalion of the Nigeria Army on a condolence visit to the wives of the slain soldiers, commiserated with the Army and announced a package to cater for the families of the fallen soldiers.
Earlier, the Brigade Commander, 144 Infantry Battalion of the Nigeria Army, Brigadier-General Olusola Diya, expressed the determination of the Army to apprehend the perpetrators of the heinous acts.
He said the Army had been gathering intelligence to bring those directly or remotely connected to the killing to book.
He expressed regret that two operational vehicles of the Army were burnt, weapons carted away, while five personnel lost their lives during the unfortunate attack.
