SLAIN SOLDERS: ABIA STATE GOVT OFFERS N25 MILLION BOUNTY FOR ARREST OF KILLERS

REPORTER: PEACE AGBO

Abia State Government has offered N25 Million reward to anyone with useful information capable of leading to the location and arrest of criminals connected to the May 30 unfortunate killings in Aba and environs.

In a statement, the State Commissioner for Information Prince Okey Kanu explained that the suspected unknown gunmen, who operated in several SUVs, opened fire on Nigerian army operatives on security duty, resulting in the killing of five soldiers at about 7:45am on Thursday at Obikabia Junction, in the Ogbor Hill area, Obingwa LGA, near Aba.

The statement condemned the dastardly act and reassured citizens, investors and friends of Abia across the globe that it would not relent in bringing the full wrath of the law to bear on anyone or group who constituted the slightest threat to the peace and security of the state.

It noted that the security formations in the State had been directed to treat informants with all the confidentiality required to guarantee their full cooperation and assistance until the criminals were fully apprehended and brought to book.

In the statement, the Abia State Government commiserated with the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja; and prayed for the peaceful repose of souls of the gallant soldiers who died in active duty.

It further pointed out that the Abia State Government would, in line with its commitment to the welfare of the security operatives working within its territory, take up the responsibility of supporting the families of the slain soldiers, including payment of regular stipends to their spouses, and the education of their children to university level.
