30YRS AFTER: SAM MBAKWE AIRPORT GETS NIGHT LANDING FACILITIES

Imo State Government has installed night landing facilities at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport Owerri after 30 years of existence.

In a statement, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Oguwike Nwachuku, noted that the leadership of Imo State House of Assembly was impressed with the restoration of the night landing.

The statement explained that on May 25, 2024, the first aircraft from Abuja land touched at exactly 7:15pm at the airport with the newly installed night landing facilities illuminating the surroundings to the admiration of even members of the host community.

According to the statement, the Assembly in a commendation letter to the Governor through the Clerk, Mrs. Chinelo Emeghara, said “it takes a visionary leader like Governor Uzodimma to initiate such a project whose economic benefits to the State cannot be overemphasised.”
