GET COMPETENT DISCOS TO MANAGE ELECTRICITY SUPPLY— ABIA NASS MEMBER TELLS FG

The member representing Arochukwu and Ohafia Federal Constituency in Abia State, Chief Ibe Osonwa, has advised government to look for
competent electricity distribution companies that will handle the power sector in the country.

Chief Osonwa, who made the call while interacting with journalists in Umuahia, identified poor power supply as a major challenge bedeviling the country’s economy.

He noted that sixty percent of production of goods and services in the country were electricity propelled.

The lawmaker insisted that once electricity supply is improved on the country’ economy would witness accelerated growth.

Chief Osonwa, who is also the Deputy Chairman House Committee on FCT Judiciary, stated that in the last one year as a federal lawmaker he has proposed over six bills in the House that had passed first and second readings.

Amongst them were a bill for the establishment of state Policing, a bill on Erosion Control and Management as well as a bill for the establishment of a Federal Medical Center FMC in his Constituency in Abia State.

On the issue of minimum wage between the Federal Government and the Organized Labour, Chief Osonwa urged both parties to be considerate in their demands and proposals, noting that the welfare of Nigerian workers should be Paramount.
