NSCDC, POLICE DEPLOY PERSONNEL AHEAD OF EID EL FITR IN ANAMBRA

As part of the strategy put in place for a hitch free sallah celebration, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Anambra State has deployed eight hundred and seventy seven of its personnel to ensure adequate security of lives and property in the state.
The Commandant of the Corps in the state, Mr. Chukwudi Chikere, while deploying the personnel, assured members of the public of their safety in line with the order of the Commandant General of the Corps, Dr. Ahmed Audi, that State Commands should beef up security before, during and after the festive period.
According to the NSCDC Commandant, the deployment will enhanced physical presence of the officers and men through mobile and foot patrol to specific areas of conveyance, including major recreational centers, transportation hubs, commercial areas and places of worship.
Mr. Chikere ordered his operatives to respect the human rights and ensure maximum crime prevention at various security flashpoints identified as well as conduct themselves in the most professional manner.
In a statement, the Public Relations Officer of the Corps, Mr. Edwin Okadigbo said, Mr. Chikere implored Muslim faithful to imbibe the spirit of love, patience, tolerance and perseverance and urged them to pray for peace, unity, security and harmony Nigeria.
Similarly, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Mr. Echeng Echeng, has directed all operational commanders to ensure adequate security of lives and property during Eid-El-Fitr celebration in the state.
He ordered them to engage in visibility policing patrols that would be dynamic and potent to address any security challenge in the state.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga said, Mr. Echeng explained that the Command would also be collaborating with other security agencies and stakeholders within the State to provide adequate security during and after the period.
The statement congratulated the Muslim Community on the successful completion of Ramadan fast and prayers, as well as felicitated with them on the Sallah celebration.
The statement advised them to also use the period to pray for the peace and security of the State and the nation at large.
