WE WILL WORK FOR PEACE IN IMO DURING AND AFTER ELECTIONS —NATIONAL PEACE COMMITTEE

Imo State Government has reiterated its support towards achieving peace and development in the state to make life more meaningful and loving.

The state Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, made this known when he received in audience the delegation of National Peace Committee Imo State Chapter in his offic in Owerri.

He commended activities of the committee during and after the previous elections and assured to support them to make their Job easier in order to achieve a relative peace in Imo State.

The leader of the delegation, the Reverend Father Philip Ogbonna, in his address condemned what he described as barbaric killings in some parts of the state and assured the government of their support to bring a lasting peace.

The Rev. Fr. Ogbonna maintained that the committee would continue to strive to defend the dignity of life by supporting both the state and federal government to achieve peace.

He explained to the Governor that the state chapter of the Peace Committee had been inaugurated and promised to meet relevant authorities in the state to ensure there would be peace during and after forth coming general election.

The committee has Prince Bashir Uwakwe the chairman Muslim council imo state council as vice chairman; a legal practitioner, Mrs. Victoria Chioma, as secretary; and Mrs. Faith Mbaleme, a broadcaster as Publicity Secretary.
