NAIRA NOTE SCARCITY: POLICE CAUTION AGAINST PLANNED VIOLENT PROTEST IN ANAMBRA

REPORTER: KEVIN EKEDIEGWU

The Police Command in Anambra State says it has uncovered plans by some groups of persons to take advantage of the scarcity of the new Naira notes to unleash violence in some parts of the state.

In a statement, the Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, said the Command had described the scarcity as not peculiar to the State alone and noted that the Federal Government was doing everything possible to address the situation.

The statement therefore warned those planning the act to shelve their planned violence or have the full weight of the law to contend with.

The statement explained that the Police, in conjunction with other security agencies, had embarked on confidence-building patrols and to ensure the deployment of human and operational resources towards guaranteeing safety and security in the state.

It, therefore, enjoined the residents of the state not to panic, while urging the law-abiding residents of the state to go about their lawful duties without any fear of harassment or intimidation.

The statement advised members of the public to call 07039194332 or 08039334002 for a prompt response.
