FMR. PRESIDENT JONATHAN ADVOCATES AMENDMENT OF NATIONAL AWARDS

President Muhammadu Buhari says Governor David Umahi’s crucial collaboration with the Federal Government has ensured that South East zone is secured against the activities of divisive and dangerous irredentist forces hell bent on undermining the unity of the country.

He stated this in a message to the maiden edition of Ebonyi Hall of Fame held at the Christian Ecumenical Centre, Abakaliki.

President Buhari, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, acknowledged that Governor Umahi shared the same principles with him, which had defined their working relations aimed at fostering common good for the people.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan, who was one of those honoured at the event, called for a review of the law on National and State Awards to empower the government to strip recipients of their awards when they become dishonourable.

Governor David Umahi explained that the event was organised to appreciate eminent Nigerians who had distinguished themselves in office.
