The Nigerian Army has reiterated its commitment to contain insecurity and ensure a peaceful festive season during the yuletide.
The Brigade Commander 34 Artillery Brigade Obinze Barracks Imo State, Brigadier-General Sani Suleiman, gave the assurance during the disengagement of members of 26th regular recruit intake from service at the barracks.
He said a special operation would soon be launched to guarantee security before, during and after Christmas and New Year festivities.
General Suleiman urged officers and soldiers in the state to maintain the discipline, which the Army was known for while appealing to the retired soldiers to resist the temptation of being used to promote national disunity.
He explained that the Army was undertaking numerous projects in the state to boost military-civilian relations, noting that the measure had increased confidence between the armed forces and the host communities.
The Brigade Commander gave awards of recognition to his former colleagues in the brigade for their selfless service to the nation and admonished them to be good ambassadors of the Army even in their retirement lives.
