The National Population Commission (NPC) has advised Enumerators and Supervisors for the 2022 Trial Census to be committed to the discharge of their duties.

The Federal Commissioner Representing Anambra State in the NPC, Mr. Chidi Ezeoke, gave the advice while declaring open the training of the personnel in Oba, Idemili Local Government Area.

The training of Supervisors and Enumerators for the Trial Population and Housing Census across the country, started on June 27 and will end on July 8.

Idemili South is the only Local Government Area, where the Trial Census will fully take place in the South East, alongside five other areas in the rest of the geopolitical zones in the country.

The Building Numbering and Household Listing will take place from July 11—16, while the Trial Census Enumeration will go on from July 20 to 24, 2022.

Mr. Ezeoke, who charged the participants to approach the training seriously, described the exercise as a national assignment.

Mr. Ezeoke further noted that the outcome of the Trial Census would provide more information and prepare the ground for the planned national census in 2023.

The Anambra State Director of the NPC, Dr. Joachim Okwuchukwu Ulasi, disclosed that over one thousand enumerators and supervisors were being trained by facilitators across thirty centres in the seven communities in Idemili South Local Government Area.

The Oath of Secrecy was administered on the participants by a Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Genevieve Osakwe, who charged the Enumerators and Supervisors to protect information gathered in the course of the exercise.

The representative of Oba Community at the event, Mr. Uchenna Obukaife, assured NPC of the cooperation of the residents to promote the success of the Trial Census.

Some of the participants said they were happy to be part of the national project.
