ODUMEJE’S CHURCH AFFECTED AS ANAMBRA STATE GOVT DEMOLISHES ILLEGAL STRUCTURES IN ONITSHA & ENVIRONS
REPORTER: ONYINYE CHIJIOBI
The Anambra State Government has commenced the demolition of illegal structures built on water ways in Onitsha and environs.
This followed the expiration of the two months notice served on developers and building owners, who constructed illegal structures on the waterways in the Fegge axis of Onitsha.
This was contained in a statement made available to journalists by the Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, Mr. Christian Aburime.
It states that the exercise, which is being carried out by a joint government task force, commenced from Bida Road by Modebe Avenue, Fegge Onitsha and affected Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention Deliverance Ministries, shops and other perimeter fences.
The Ministry is owned by a prophet, popularly known as Odumeje.
The statement explains that the structures were marked since April, 2022, adding that all developers and building owners were served notices to remove such structures.
It notes that the demolition is not targeted at any particular person or groups, adding that it is in line with the move to recover the master plan of Onitsha and other cities in the state, which have been serially abused and turned to slums.
The statement further urges builders and developers who work on appropriate sites to go about their normal businesses without fear of molestation.
