INVESTMENT IN EDUCATION & VOCATIONAL SKILLS ACQUISITION WILL HELP NIGERIA — GOV OBIANO

Governor Willie Obiano says for the nation to remain a major player in the 21st century, it must massively invest in education and vocational training.
Governor Obiano, who stated this in a farewell party organisated by the Ministry of Basic Education, tagged celebrating excellence, pointed out that developed countries, including South Korea, which was in the 60’s at the same pedestal of under-development with Nigeria, had invested massively in education and vocational training.
According to the Governor, his administration had invested heavily on education and vocational training, which led to the giant strides recorded in the sector both at national and international levels.
He maintained that for any country to be relevant, government at all levels must increase their annual budget in education and vocational training.
The Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha, in her farewell speech, commended the Governor for investing heavily in the education sector, which she said had led to the success story recorded.
She also commended all those who had made the sector to shine academically, including students and teachers.
Professor Omenugha explained that the present administration had changed the standards of education to an enviable height with national and international recognitions to her name.
High points of the event were march past by different educational zones, cultural displays and farewell songs by students.
