REPORTER: LAWRENCE NWOKEDI

The wife of the Abia State Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu, has called for a closure on gender gap and discrepancy between men and women in the areas of politics as well as equal power and opportunities.

Mrs. Ikpeazu made the call during the 2022 International Women’s Day in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.

She noted that through her pet project she had engaged various stakeholders and members of the state House of Assembly in the support for gender mainstreaming and balancing.

The wife of the Governor urged women to be more politically active as the 2023 general election draws closer in the country.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Rose Urenta, urged women to come together and join hands in the fight to eradicate all forms of gender based violence against women and girls in the society.

The theme for the 2022 International Women’s Day is “Break the bias; Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow.”
