DREDGING OF WATER WAYS & RECONSTRUCTION OF ROADS IN ONITSHA & OKPOKO WILL COMMENCE SOON — GOV SOLUDO

Anambra State Government says it would soon embark on massive clearing of water ways and dredging of Sakamori in Onitsha.

Also the state government is to embark on construction and rehabilitation of roads within Onitsha and its environs.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who announced this when he paid a visit to Upper Iweka, Bridge Head, Industrial Harbour, Permanent Site Fruits and Vegetables Market in Onitsha, maintained that the visit was in fulfilment of his campaign promise to the people of the state.

Governor Chukwuma soludo during the visit to Okpoko, in Ogbaru Local Government Area, lamented the the degrading living condition of of people residing in the area.

The Governor also expressed worry about the health condition of Okpoko residents, saying that the flood channels and Sakamori when properly cleared and dredged would make life meaningful for the citizens.

He said when dredged the water would be channelled to River Niger to ease the sufferings of thousands of Anambra residents, who had lost their means of livelihood.

Professor Soludo urged the people to desist from throwing dirts in the water ways, saying that Onitsha and Okpoko would get the facelift they deserved.

Governor Soludo also warned those who erected buildings by the flood channels to demolish them or await demolition by government.

He promised that his administration would soon embark on construction and rehabilitation of roads in and around onitsha to give the notable commercial city the status it deserved.

The President General of Okpoko Community, Mr. Francis Enemuo, in his welcome address, urged the Governor to fulfill his promises to the people of the area as their expectations were high.

Other places visited included Obodoukwu Street, Ede Road and adjoining roads as well as Port Harcourt and Owerri Roads.
