SCHOOLS IN EBONYI STATE RECORD LOW TURN OUT AS 2016/2017 THIRD TERM ACADEMIC SESSION COMMENCES.

ebonyi3Primary and Post Primary Schools in Ebonyi State have reopened for 2016/2017 third term academic session. Radio  Nigeria  observed that most of the schools across the state witness low turn out of students and pupils. A visit to Model Comprehensive Secondary School Ugwuachara, Abakaliki, High School Presco and New Layout Primary School shows that most classes were empty while teachers were seen charting.

In an interview with Radio Nigeria, some Heads of the schools attributed the low turnout of students and pupils to the public holiday earlier declared by the state government which were later cancelled. Some students and pupils expressed readiness to take their studies very seriously and called on the state government to provide their schools with teaching and learning aids.

Reacting, the Commissioners for Education in the State, Professor John Eke accepted responsibility for the poor turnout of students and pupils attributing it to the cancellation of earlier announced public holidays. The state government had last week shifted date for school resumption to this week.
