RURAL DWELLERS TO BE INVOLVED IN EXECUTION OF PROJECTS AT THE GRASSROOTS

Enugu State Government has reiterated its resolve to involve the services of rural dwellers in the execution of projects cited at the grassroots. This according to it is to empower them and ensure proper ownership of the projects by the people.

The 2017 Visit Every Community, VEC Team Leader, Ezeagu Local Government Area, Mr. Nelson Edeh made this known when the group visited some communities to know six priority social amenities they would want the state government to provide for them. At Okpogho, Amagu Umulokpaand  AguobuIwolo the people called for provision of access roads, health centers, potable water, skill acquisition centers and secondary schools, among others.

They expressed the hope that the provision of these basic infrastructure would save them the stress of trekking long distance to access them. The Caretaker Chairman, Ezeagu Local Government, Mr. Chukwudi Ezinwa who used the opportunity to sensitize the people on the need to participate effectively in the ongoing voter registration described the VEC initiative as a welcome development.

The people of Amankwo Oghe apart from joining their voices in the call for the provision of facilities also complained that they have been denied key political appointments both at state and local government levels since 1951.
