PALM SUNDAY: ARCHBISHOP CHUKWUMA PREACHES HOLINESS, INTEGRITY AND SELFLESS LEADERSHIP

The Archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, the Most Reverend Emmanuel Chukwuma, has called on Christians to emulate Jesus Christ by imbibing the vrtues of integrity, humility, honesty, love and care for others.

The Most Reverend Chukwuma made the call during a sermon at the Cathedral Church of the Good Shepherd Independence Layout, Enugu, to mark the celebration of Palm Sunday.

The Archbishop said Christians should shun sinful life and live a life of holiness.

Archbishop Chukwuma, who is also the Anglican Bishop of Enugu Diocese, urged those in leadership positions to emulate the humility of Jesus Christ, urging them to use the nation’s trying moment to visit their constituents and extend love, especially the less privileged.

He urged Christians to always conduct themselves peacefully as Christ’s followers, stressing that Jesus Christ entered Jerusalem as the Prince of Peace and not as tyrant.

“Palm Sunday is a celebration of hope. It is a feast that highlights our hope as Christians that death is not the end, but life and resurrection. So, there is hope notwithstanding whatever we may be passing through now as individuals and as a nation.

“if Nigerian leaders could demonstrate a little of Christ’s sacrificial leadership, the country would have progressed more than the current status. God sent His only begotten son into the world to accomplish a mission, and part of this mission is to make the greatest sacrifice of dying for the entire mankind,” the Archbishop stated.

According to the Archbishop “While on earth, his leadership style was rooted in sacrifice, service; he lived for others. If our political and church leaders in Nigerian can make half of the sacrifice Jesus made while on earth, our country would be better of.

“If they can put aside selfishness, greed, mediocrity, ethnic jingoism, nepotism, corruption, and embrace love and care for others, Nigeria would be the envy of the world.

The Church offered special prayers for healing, deliverance from Coronavirus pandemic, kidnapping, crisis and personal needs of members.
