NOA IN IMO STATE CALLS FOR AGGRESSIVE CAMPAIGN IN RURAL AREAS TO CONTAIN CORONA VIRUS DISEASE

The National Orientation Agency wants the committee set up by the Imo State Government on COVID-19 virus to intensify sensitization especially in the rural areas to check the spread of the disease.

The State Director of the Agency, Mr. Vitus Ekeocha made the call while addressing journalists on efforts by the Agency to contain the virus in Imo State.

Mr. Ekeocha urged the Committee to collaborate with organizations that have presence in the Local Government Areas in sensitising the rural dwellers.

He also enjoined the Media to ensure that citizens were enlightened on various precautionary measures.

Mr. Ekeocha noted that the National Orientation Agency had embarked on State wide campaign against the virus and appealed to residents of Imo State to observe the directive on social distance as well as regular hand washing to stay safe.

He urged the people not to be carried away by the fact that no case of the disease had been recorded in the State, but should reduce the chances of coming in contact with the virus by avoiding crowded places.
