MAJOR MARKETS IN IMO STATE TO BE SHUTDOWN OVER COVID-19 PANDEMIC

All major markets in Imo State are to be closed for business by Friday this week as part of measures to prevent the Corona virus pandemic in the State.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Declan Emelumba announced this while briefing Journalists at the end of the State Executive Council meeting held at Government house Owerri.

He said Government would meet with religious leaders in the State with a view to ensuring that the social distance order given by authorities was adhered to.

Mr. Emelumba noted that Government would make ambulances available to the twenty seven Local Government Areas of the State while more Test centres would be put in place as part of proactive measures to contain the virus.

He explained that people coming into the State from Saturday this week must undergo health checks to ascertain their status before they are allowed entry.
