LG ELECTION PETITIONS TRIBUNAL IN ENUGU STATE PLEDGES FAIR HEARING

Legal practitioners in Enugu State have been charged to avoid acts capable of jeopardizing fair hearing on petitions brought by aggrieved persons following last month’s Local Government election in the State.

Retired Justice Fredrick Obieze who is the chairman of the tribunal constituted to handle the election matters made the call during the inaugural sitting of the tribunal at the State High Court.

Justice Obieze explained that the tribunal was committed to ensuring Justice to every petition in its registry.

According to Justice Obieze, seven petitions have so far been brought before the tribunal.

Also, Mr. Bekuochi Edeh who represented the Attorney General of Enugu State, Mr. Ike Ozor said the inaugural sitting was well articulated by laying out rules that would be adopted during the hearing.

The tribunal sits from Monday to Saturday from ten o’clock in the morning.
