PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN EBONYI WARNED AGAINST REJECTING THE SERVICES OF CORPS MEMBERS.

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has directed Principals of Public Secondary Schools in the State to accept the services of Corps members posted to them and stop forthwith their rejection on flimsy excuses.

Chief Umahi gave the charge during the terminal parade of 2017 Batch B, Corps members at NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Old Macgregor College Afikpo.

While the course lasted, the Corps members numbering about two thousand, two hundred and thirty two participated in activities such as citizenship and Leadership training, skills acquisition and professional orientation.

The Governor represented by the State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Chief Charles Akpuenika enjoined the Corps members to contribute their quota to the development of the country by embarking on viable community projects.

He urged them to ensure that residents of the state felt their positive impact as NYSC scheme called for sacrifice for the realization of its key objectives.

The Coordinator of the Scheme in the State, Mrs Regina Illuebby commended Ebonyi State Government for the recommencement of payment of five thousand Naira monthly stipend to the Corps members.

She stated that ninety percent of them were posted to public secondary schools in all the Local Government Areas in the state except Ishielu.

Some of the Corps members who bared their minds on the exercise including Miss Maryann Tochukwu, Master Sophiannie Ishaya and Miss Iniebon Chibong described it as an opportunity to deepen their knowledge in the nation’s developmental efforts.

They however called for improvement on their allowances to enable them to serve the country better.

The terminal parade ends three weeks orientation course for the Corps members.

Similarly, Abia State Governor, Chief Okezie Ikpeazu has urged corps members to engage in acts geared towards ensuring peace during their service year.

Chief Ikpeazu gave the advice in a message to the closing ceremony of Orientation Course for Corps members deployed to the state at the Permanent Orientation Camp Umunna Bende Local Government Area.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youths Development, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Uwasomba, the governor charged them to put into good use the training they received while in camp to sustain themselves in future.

He assured the corps members of the administration’s

commitment towards providing adequate security of lives and property while in the state.

In an address, the State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs. Francesca Ifon enjoined the corps members to accept their posting which was done in line with NYSC posting policy in good fate.

She commended Governor Ikpeazu for his support and encouragement to the scheme.

Over two thousand corps members passed out of the three weeks

Orientation course.
