ENUGU STATE GOVERNMENT TRAINS ITS PERMANENT SECRETARIES FOR BETTER SERVICE DELIVERY.

enugou logoPermanent Secretaries in Enugu state are called upon to avail themselves of the opportunity provided by the State Government to develop themselves for better service delivery. The Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Elder Gabriel Ajah made the call at the opening ceremony of a capacity building workshop for permanent secretaries held in Enugu, by the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Training.

Declaring the workshop open, Elder Ajah advised the permanent secretaries to approach the workshop with all the seriousness it deserved, bearing in mind that they would be required to use the knowledge gained to train civil servants under their leadership as well as bring development to the state.

He said the State Government expected them to live up to their responsibilities in order to bring good fortunes to the area. The Head of Service, Enugu State, Mr. Chidi Ezema urged the permanent secretaries to reciprocate the good gesture of the State Government by not just showing seriousness at the training but implementing what they learnt in their various offices after the training.

In an address, the Director General of Centre for Management Development, Dr. Kabir Kabo Usman emphasized that the knowledge gained from the training would impact positively on participants and the economy of Enugu State. He solicited the support of the permanent secretaries and the State Government to make the workshop a success.

In an interview, the Senior Special Assistant to the Enugu State Governor on Training, Mrs. Sylvia Onwubuemeli said the training which was an initiative of the Governor was borne out of the need to fill the training gap discovered as a setback to service delivery among civil servants in Enugu State. In a vote of thanks on behalf of his colleagues, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Rural Development and Chairman, Enugu State Body of Permanent Secretaries, Mr. Innocent Enejere said the training would enhance service delivery in the State Civil Service.

The workshop which will last five days is organised by Centre for Management Development. It will feature training on public sector, culture of the service, Etiquette, rules of service, financial matters, among others.
