ANGLICAN DIOCESE OF ENUGU NORTH CELEBRATES ONE HUNDRED YEARS OF EXISTENCE

ang-log2The church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Diocese of Enugu North has announced Saturday twenty-second and Sunday the twenty-third of this month as the grand ceremony of its one hundred years of propagating the Gospel. The Centenary celebration started since the sixth of this month.

The Chairman Planning Committee of the celebration, Ozor Ramsey Onyia, announced this during a courtesy visit to the Management of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Enugu National Station. Ozor Onyia while narrating the events that led to the genesis of Christianity in the area said the Gospel of Jesus Christ had spread to the entire Province for the past one hundred years in good tidings.

He stated that the Diocese of Enugu North would honour more than eighty distinguished persons, with some, to be given Post humous awards. Another member of the Planning Committee and Secretary of the event, the Venerable Ernest Agu, mentioned some of the ills the gospel had corrected through the intercession of the missionaries.

They were killing of twins and using of human heads during burials. Venerable Agu announced that a centenary lecture would be delivered on the occasion. Responding, the Zonal Director of Radio Nigeria Enugu National Station, Mr. Ike Okere commended the Diocese of Enugu North Anglican Communion for achieving such a feat and assured them of the Station’s optimum support through its wide transmission both locally and internationally.

The Chief Host of the Centenary celebration which will take place at the Cathedral Church of Saint Mary Ngwo is the Bishop of the Diocese, the Right Reverend Sosthenes Eze.
