EBONYI STATE GOVERNMENT ORDERS THE ARREST OF A ROAD CONTRACTOR FOR ALLEGED SHODDY JOB.

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has ordered the arrest of a Contractor handling Okposi-Umuoghara- Ebiaji Road in Ezza North Local Government Area for allegedly doing poor job after collecting two hundred million naira mobilization fee. A Statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Emma Anya explains that Chief Umahi also directed the suspension of an Official of the Ministry of Works for poor supervision of the project.

The Governor described the work of the contracting firm as deceitful and warned that the State Government would not tolerate shoddy job from any Contractor. The statement quotes the State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Mr. Fidelis Nweze as saying that the Company was able to do about two kilometres of earthwork regardless of the amount of money released by the Government.
