41 NYSC MEMBERS SANCTIONED IN EBONYI AND ANAMBRA STATES

28 National Youth Service Corps members are to repeat their one year mandatory service in Ebonyi State for absconding from their various places of primary assignment.

The State Co-ordinator of the Scheme, Mrs. Regina Iluebbey announced this at the Passing-Out Parade of 2017 Batch “A” Stream One Corps members at Unity Square Abakaliki.

Mrs. Illuebbey noted that the service year of 17 other erring corps members would be extended by one to four months in accordance with the NYSC Bye Laws.

Governor David Umahi represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Hyginus Nwokwu commended the Corps members for contributing to the development of the State.

He emphasized that his administration would continue to collaborate with stakeholders in various sectors of the economy to engage the Corps members and tasked them on national unity.

Radio Nigeria gathered that of 1,936 2017 Batch “A” Stream 1 Corps members deployed to the State, 3 were given State honours awards while 5 received commendation letters for embarking on community development projects.

Similarly, 13 members of the National Youth Service Corps 2017 Batch “A” Stream 1 have been found wanting and will be sanctioned with extension and repeat of service in Anambra State.

The State Coordinator of NYSC, Mr. Ebeneze Olawale made this known during the Passing Out Parade of the Corps members at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka.

Mr. Olawale also said that 7 Corps members have qualified for the Governor’s award while 13 would receive the State Coordinator’s honours award.

Meanwhile, a total of 2,814 corps members participated in the 2017 Batch “A” Stream 1 exercise in Anambra State.
