POLICE UNVEIL SECURITY ARRANGEMENT FOR SUCCESS OF OSUN GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION

The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris has unveiled the security arrangement for the 22nd September Governorship election in Osun State.

Part of the arrangement according to  an Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Jimoh Moshood  include deployment of adequate personnel, three hundred patrol vehicles, thirty Armored Personnel Carriers and two surveillance  helicopters.

A curfew will also begin at midnight on Friday, 21st September until the end of the election.

Mr. Moshood stated that the whole arrangement would be coordinated by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations who would be assisted by an Assistant Inspector-General of Police and eight Commissioners.

He noted that operatives of the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department and IGP Monitoring Unit were already on ground to prevent and arrest anyone involved in vote buying.

According to Mr. Moshood, the Inspector-General of Police has directed that a robust and elaborate security arrangement be implemented to ensure secured environment for a peaceful and credible election.
