LITERARY WORK IS A CATALYST FOR POSITIVE CHANGE IN SOCIETY – ETIABA

The immediate past chairman, Enugu Sports Council, Chief Ben Etiaba, has called for support for literary work, which he believes is a catalyst for positive change in the society.

He stated this at an event organized by a poet, Mr. Dike Chukwumerije, entitled “Let’s Be Honest” under the auspices of the Enugu Literary Society.

Chief Etiaba, who commended the initiative, expressed joy that younger ones were getting involved literary works.

A lecturer in the Political Science Department, University of Nigeria Nsukka, Dr. Jasper Uche described the programme as inspirational, which should be supported.

For the Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Enugu National Station and President Enugu Literary Society, Mr. Ike Okere, the Enugu Literary society was collaborating with schools and other groups to catch them young.

Speaking during the occasion, Mr. Dike Chukwumereije, who performed the main acts, noted that arts and culture was critical in raising children, evolving a social change and therefore called for support to the initiative.

Some of those who performed at the occasion said that apart from having passion for poetry it was a way of addressing societal issues.

The Enugu Literary Society focuses attention on instituting a literary culture by bringing together poets, dramatists, film makers among others.
